Dear colleagues,
The Research Unit for Variation, Linguistic Change and Grammaticalization based at the University of Santiago de Compostela (http://www.usc-vlcg.es/) has just launched the Corpus of Historical English Law Reports 1535-1999 (CHELAR).
CHELAR is a specialised corpus consisting of law reports and judicial decisions dating from 1535 to 1999. It enables researchers to investigate a legal text type which is not included in any other diachronic corpus existing to date – apart from ARCHER 3.2, also compiled by the VLCG team as part of their work for the ARCHER Consortium.
CHELAR is available as plain text and with POS annotation (CLAWS-7; LancasterUniversity). It is currently also being annotated following the TEI XML guidelines.
For more information and conditions of access, visit the entry for CHELAR in CoRD (Corpus Resource Database – VARIENG, Helsinki) at http://www.helsinki.fi/varieng/CoRD/corpora/CHELAR/
